The wait is finally over.

After an 0-4 start that featured two excruciating losses on the final play of the game, the Denver Broncos are winners.

They defeated the Los Angeles Chargers, 20-13, Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California for their first win of the season.

The Broncos started the scoring with a seven-play, 75-yard drive on their first possession,. Phillip Lindsay capped the drive with a four-yard touchdown run 3:54 into the game.

On their second possession, the Broncos increased their lead to 14-0 on Joe Flacco's 70-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton.

Trailing 17-0 at halftime, the Chargers closed the gap to 17-10 on Desmond King's 68-yard punt return for a touchdown and Chase McGalughlin's 45-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter.

But the Broncos held on.

Brandon McManus hit a 46-yard field goal with 1:55 to go. McGlaughlin answered with a 32-yarder with only 10 second remaining and the Broncos recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.

The win was not only the Broncos first of the season, it was also the first victory as a head coach for the Broncos' Vic Fangio.
