Kadri Stays Hot As Avs Defeat Ducks, 5-2, For Sixth Straight Win

When players are hurt, other guys have to pick up the slack.

With Nathan MacKinnon out, Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting. And he did more in the Avs 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night at Ball Arena.

The Avalanche has now won six straight games, scoring at least four goals in all six.

Kadri scored a goal and added an assist to extend his point-scoring streak to ten consecutive games. He assisted on Cale Makar's goal at 19:06 of the first period. That tied the game at one.

Kadri added a goal of his own nearly a minute into the third period. That gave the Avalanche a 4-1 lead.

Makar has been just as hot. He now has six goals and two assists in the last four games. That's elite production for a defenseman.

The win was number 194 for Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar. Bednar passed Bob Hartley for most wins as a head coach in Avs history.

Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper lost a skate blade in the first period. Jonas Johansson replaced him and finished out the game by saving 19 of the 20 shots he faced.
