Authorities in Minnesota arrested a ten-year-old boy accused of stealing a car and taking it for a joy ride. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the young boy stole the car and then drove it through a playground where over a dozen kids were playing.

Shocking surveillance camera footage shows the car driving along the grass and approaching a playground area where kids and adults were gathered.

The boy drove back and forth past the playground before he started driving along the sidewalk. Officers arrested the boy and booked him at Hennepin County Juvenile Detention. He was charged with reckless driving and receiving stolen property.

A court-appointed psychologist will meet with the boy to determine if he is capable of assisting his lawyers and able to understand the legal proceedings. If he is not capable, the case will either dismissed or suspended.

Authorities said the young boy has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2023. He has previously been arrested twice for auto theft and is considered a suspect in over a dozen other cases for auto theft, assault with a dangerous weapon, and robbery.
