Celebration of the Life of Irv Brown Set FOR SATURDAY
1st Bank Center In Broomfield To Host Major Event
BROOMFIELD – Due to the overwhelming output of support and interest in attending memorial services for Irv Brown, a public event has been set for Noon this Saturday, Feb. 16 , at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield.
Brown passed away at the age of 83 on Feb. 3; church services are set for earlier that day. The Brown family is humbled by the enormous outpouring of support and love for Irv and with so many of his fans expressing interest in attending, a celebration of his life event has been created at the 1st Bank Center. Since it has significant more capacity than the church, fans are encouraged to attend this event.
Between being a star athlete both in high school and college in the state, Brown also coached on several levels, most notably the baseball team at the University of Colorado, and was considered one of the finest basketball officials in the game nationally for over a decade. He then turned to a career in sports broadcasting for almost 40 years in both radio and television.
The celebration of Irv’s life will take on a bit of game day atmosphere; concession stands will be open with stadium food for sale and a program in which local sports celebrities will tell some of their favorite memories of Irv, including his longtime radio partner Joe Williams and two of his former athletes who played a combined 26 seasons in the major leagues, John Stearns and Jay Howell. Dave Logan will emcee the event which will also feature video and photo presentations along with some surprise celebrity speakers.
There is no cost to attend, though people can donate at the event to Brown’s favorite charity, the Denver Dumb Friends League.
The 1st Bank Center is located at 11450 Broomfield Lane, just off Wadsworth Blvd. south of its exit on U.S. 36.
Orange & Blue 760 will have the event live. Listen on 760AM or with the iHeartRadio App.
