He is one of the best talents in Nashville and his resume reads like a who’s who of the music business.

But you’d never know it.

Ben Glover prefers it that way.

Nearly 20 years ago, with a dream and a will, Ben moved from Loveland, Colorado to Nashville, Tennessee to make it in the music business.

Mission accomplished.

And what a ride it has been.

A two-time Grammy Award winner and nomintated for three other Grammys, Ben has written over 35 number one songs in a wide variety of musical genres, most notably Contemporary Christian and Country, and has had over 400 songs recorded.

He has written for and worked with a wide range of artists including MercyMe, for King and Country, Chris Tomlin, Newsboys, Mandisa, Lee Brice, Trace Adkins, The Backstreet Boys, Crowder, James Taylor, Amy Grant, Clay Walker, Brandon Heath, Joy Williams, Nichole Nordeman, Kari Jobe, Francesca Battistelli and Colton Dixon, just to name a few.

His two Grammy awards came in 2013, one for co-writing Mandisa’s hit “Overcomer” and the other for producing the album of the same name.

In 2015, he won his first Dove Award, earning recognition for RUN WILD. LIVE FREE. LOVE STRONG. by for King and Country. In addition, Ben has been named the ASCAP Christian Songwriter of the Year five times.

Along with his love for music, Ben is an avid sports fan and stays true to teams from his native Colorado, especially the Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche.

Behind the hit songs and the industry recognition is a story of perseverance in a place and in an industry that has chewed up and spit out more people than we can count.

Ben has not been immune to adversity and yet, through his faith in God, he has both survived and thrived.

And thankfully, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Currently, he is producing new albums for both MercyMe and Lee Brice.

Earlier this year, as summer turned to spring, we caught up with Ben at his Glove Box South studio in Brentwood, Tennessee, south of Nashville.

We were also able to see him perform at The Listening Room in Nashville in what is known as a writer’s round, an intimate gathering in which songwriters perform some of their material and share stories about the songs they have written.

Normally we talk sports on the podcast. This time, we talk music, the music business, the challenge of staying true to one’s faith and more…including some sports…with one of the best songwriters/producers/singers in Nashville and one of the best people you could ever meet.
