Free agent right-hander Jon Gray is moving on from the Colorado Rockies.
According to multiple media reports, Gray has agreed to a four-year, $56 million deal with the Texas Rangers.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News and Robert Murray of FanSided first reported the deal. ESPN's Jeff Passan was the first with the total amount.
The Rockies selected Gray third overall in the 2013 draft out of the University of Oklahoma.
He spent the first seven years of his Major League career with the Rockies, going 53-49 with a 4.59 ERA.
In 2021, Gray was 8-12, also with a 4.59 ERA.
Both the Rockies and Gray expressed a desire to get a long-term deal done and the Rockies pulled him off the market before the trade deadline in July.
Thomas Harding of MLB.com tweeted Sunday night that Rockies general manager Bull Schmidt spoke with Gray's representatives and was told "Jon and Jacklyn [Gray's wife] are going to go in a different direction."
The Athletic reported the Rockies offer to Gray was 3-4 years and $35-$40 million.
