Rantanen's Hat Trick Leads Avs To 6-2 Win Over Nashville

It didn't take long for the Colorado Avalanche to get back on the winning track.

Mikko Rantanen's hat trick helped the Avs polish off the Nashville Predators, 6-2, on Saturday night at Ball Arena.

Colorado looked sharp in taking the second half of a back-to-back set after falling in Dallas on Friday night.

Rantanen put home a pair of goals in the first period to get the Avs off on the right foot. Defenseman Cale Makar assisted on both of those scores and added a third assist on Bowen Byrum's goal in the second period. Makar now has a career-high six game point streak.

Byrum returned to the lineup after missing the previous six games after taking an elbow to the head against Vancouver back on November 13.

Leading 3-1 after two periods, the Avs pulled away in the third. Valeri Nichushkin, Rantanen and Tyson Jost all scored goals in the third to put the game away.
